Children with Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are at increased risk of developing a psychosocial disturbance. Furthermore the presence of a psychological disorder can negatively influence disease activity, which stresses the importance of monitoring psychosocial functioning as part of clinical care. Standardised psychological therapies seems promising for addressing psychosocial difficulties in pediatric IBD, however strong recommendations in this area are still lacking.
