The diagnosis of “early” lesions in the diagnosis of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs) requires the enhancement of “cardinal” morphological elements such as basal plasmacytosis and sectorial inflammation of the terminal ileum in IBD in addition to a close and multidisciplinary relationship of collaboration between the endoscopist, clinician and the pathologist.
