A nutritional approach in pediatric surgical patients includes preoperative, perioperative nutrition and postoperative assessment. Preoperative malnutrition is associated with complications and increased. Enteral and parenteral nutrition can be used in cases where food intake is inadequate. In the perioperative period, fasting should be limited. Postoperatively, early feeding has been shown to resolve ileus, infections, promote healing, and reduce hospital stay.
