Neonatal-onset inflammatory bowel diseases are rare and have distinguish feautures from IBD in the older child. In most cases, intestinal disease is part of a complex clinical picture determined by a monogenic defect favoring a primary immunodeficiency. Timeliness of diagnosis is essential to institute targeted and sometimes definitive treatments such as hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
