Neonatal cholestasis: a brief summary of approach and management

Neonatal cholestasis is an heterogenous disease, with both congenital and acquired etiology. It is paramount to obtain a diagnosis as quickly as possible in order to promptly begin the most appropriate treatment. In recent years, molecular biology has obtained new insights into genetic cholestasis and new therapeutic targets have been identified, although much remains to be clarified.
