New guidelines for diagnosis of celiac disease have recently been published by ESPGHAN. Compared to previous ones, a unique algorithm is indicated for both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients, HLA haplotype is no more requested and anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies are requested as first line test for screening regardless of the age. In this brief commentary we analyse the main differences introduced and their impact on clinical practice.
