Inflammatory bowel diseases and necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) are sustained by immunoinflammatory responses that can be modulated by dietary components. The experimental basis of clinical efficacy of these components is strong while there’s only few clinical evidence. Probiotics show the best evidences in the treatment and prevention of chronic pouchitis in patients undergone colectomy for ulcerative colitis and for the prevention NEC in preterm infants.
