Elevated liver enzymes in the context of an autoimmune disorder may suggest the presence of an isolated autoimmune liver disease, of a liver disease related to an autoimmune gut disorder or to a systemic autoimmune disease. autoimmune hepatitis and cholangitis are the most common autoimmune liver disease associated with the presence of serum autoantibodies and hypergammaglobulinemia. The finding of elevated liver enzymes is also a common feature of celiac disease at diagnosis.
