The small bowel has always been the most difficult intestinal segment to be evaluated due to its central position, length and configuration. However, new endoscopic techniques, such as capsule endoscopy and enteroscopy, have allowed an easier and more accurate small bowel study. The main indications for capsule endoscopy and enteroscopy in pediatric age are inflammatory bowel diseases, obscure gastrointestinal bleeding and polyposis syndromes.
