Persistent diarrhea is a reduction of fecal consistency and/or an increase in the number of evacuations that persists beyond 14 days. It is important to set a diagnostic based on history, physical examination. Laboratory exams/imaging studies as much targeted as possible, should be reserved to selected patients to identify and treat organic causes.
