Parenteral Nutrition (PN) is mainly used to treat children that cannot be fully fed by oral or enteral route and it is required to provide adequate nutritional support. PN is not indicated in patients with adequate small intestinal function. Actually PN is a rather safe method of nutritional treatment, but there are some complications to be known, related to central venous catheter (CVC), to metabolic or nutritional consequences and to organ and system disorders.
