A new National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guideline for gastroesophageal reflux (GER) has recently been published. GER-disease (GERD) is defined as GER complications or symptoms severe enough to merit treatment. Parental advices, “red flags” symptoms, differential diagnosis, at risk conditions and indications for en- doscopy and pH(impedance)-monitoring are presented. Initial management for GER and GERD and nutritional, phar- macological and surgical treatment for GERD are also illustrated.
