Paediatric liver transplantation (LT) has become a standardized procedure in treating children with end-stage liver disease. Main indications for LT have not been changed but new gene mutations have been recently identified for some liver diseases. Post-LT survival rate is very high. Performing LT in children with complex metabolic disorders and in those who require a retransplantation represent the future challenge in this setting.
