The main purposes of the present review are to provide the reader with a comprehensive overview of the current available therapies for chronic hepatitis C in children. The combined treatment with pegylated interferon and ribavirin in children infected with genotype 2 or 3 has been demonstrated to be highly effective (sustained virological response > 90%). One out of two children infected with genotype 1 will achieve sustained virological response with pegylated interferon and ribavirin.
