ancer risk in IBD: when and how to monitor?
Daniela Pugliese. Giuseppe Privitera, Alessandro Armuzzi
Patients affected by Inflammatory Bowel Disease are considered at higher risk of developing colorectal cancer. Moreover, immunosuppressants, including thiopurines and biologics, commonly used to treat IBD, expose patients to an increased risk of certain types of extra-intestinal cancer. Less is known about the impact of these therapies on the risk of worsening/relapse of an active or prior cancer.
